Strengthening Florida’s Fresh Food System

More than 2.8 million Floridians annually use SNAP to help put food on the table, but still struggle to make ends meet.

FAB’s approach to addressing food access, affordability, and nutrition education aims to work with the entire food system to build healthy, resilient communities supported by robust local food systems.

FAB supports families
- Supports better nutrition, stretches families' food budgets and brings healthy foods within reach of all Floridians

FAB supports farmers
- Creates new markets and revenue streams for Florida farmers and producers

FAB supports communities
- Increases local food purchasing and strengthens community investment in local economies while building a more resilient food system –from farm to fork

Fresh Access Bucks is a program of Feeding Florida, which works to solve hunger throughout the state. FAB provides a dollar-for-dollar match for fresh, Florida-grown fruits and vegetables when SNAP-eligible foods are purchased.

Our Story: In Season Since 2013

Fresh Access Bucks launched in 2013 at three farmers markets in Gainesville. In 2015, FAB was one of eight recipients of the first large-scale USDA Food Insecurity Nutrition Program (FINI) grant, authorized through the 2014 Farm Bill, and was awarded a second FINI grant in 2018 after joining Feeding Florida as a network program. Since then, FAB has grown to over 80 locations across Florida.

Spanning from Miami to the Panhandle, our network of farmers markets, farm stands, CSAs, mobile markets, and community grocery stores provide better access to nutrition foods in geographically and situationally diverse communities.

FAB envisions a future where all Floridians have access to fresh, affordable, Florida-grown produce, where Florida farmers thrive and all communities reap the benefits of an equitable and just food system.

Together, We are Feeding Florida

Fresh Access Bucks works to increase access to healthy, nutritious fruits and vegetables, which is at the core of Feeding Florida’s work to solve hunger.

Feeding Florida’s 9-member food banks and Network programs- FAB, Florida Nutrition Education and Farmers Feeding Florida- are innovating ways to help the families and individuals who face hunger. Through increased access to fresh, Florida-grown produce, proteins, and dairy; nutrition education; mobile markets that go into food deserts; prescription produce programs and more, the Feeding Florida Network is helping Florida’s families access food, create stability, and thrive.

Together, we are all Feeding Florida.
